- Agency Profile -
The Jupiter Drawing Room opened its doors for business in Johannesburg in May 1989. The Cape Town office was founded in 1994. In 2012 the first office outside of the borders of South Africa was opened in Harare, shortly followed by offices in Blantyre, Lusaka and Port Louis.
The agency name comes from an obscure Guy de Maupassant short story. In a bordello in Normandy, France, Madame Tellier and her young ladies entertained the locals downstairs. Dignitaries and VIP's, however had a special room set aside for them on the first floor: The Jupiter Drawing Room.
The Jupiter Drawing Room & Partners encompasses The Jupiter Drawing Room agencies, as well as partner creative agencies including Utopia in Cape Town and Jericho in Zimbabwe.
The philosophy of The Jupiter Drawing Room is enshrined in the expression Rem tene, verba sequentur, meaning "Grasp the subject and the words will follow". This reflects the belief that the best work can only be achieved by a thorough understanding of the task at hand.
